Pros
- Works well, dries quickly
- Looks pretty stylish
- Three temperature settings
Cons
- Overpowered motor that doesn’t feel more powerful than a 2000w – expensive drain on electricity for no reason
- Really short cable
Summary
Every personal appliance product these days likes to have something that makes it stand out from the crowd. GHD have their looks, Panasonic has its ‘Nanoe’ technology, Remington has its ‘Moroccan infusion’ gubbins and Nicky Clarke has it’s insanely over the top wattage. And, wow, crushed diamonds in some products. These things are designed to grab attention, not to out perform other brands. This is a good price, but I think at the end of the day – the cord length ruins it for me and the wattage baffles me.

In-Depth Review
Nicky Clarke himself has an OBE for 30 years service to hair styling (who knew you could get one for that?) and became known for styling the hair of various celebrities. He went on to start a range of salons, products and appear on television shows and has become one of the most recognisable names in the industry. His products are usually fantastic and are professional level products at an affordable price.
The Nicky Clarke NHD093 Mayfair Collection Vitesse Dryer 2500W comes with:
- 1x Vitesse dryer
- 1 x Concentrator nozzle
This hair dryer looks like the real deal, it looks like it belongs in a hair salon. It’s not the lightest out there but it’s not too heavy either and its design is bordering on retro – in a good way.
With three temperature settings and two speed settings, you should be covered with this no matter what your hair type is. The concentrator nozzle is great for creating the perfect style and without it, hair dries extremely quickly.

For some reason, this hair dryer comes with a 2500W motor which is one of the most powerful on the market and, I hate to say it, but isn’t this just overkill? What can a 2500W motor do that a 2000W can’t? Nothing, is the answer. It’s an extra drain on your electricity bill and just unnecessary. In this world of ‘bigger is better’ – this is just rubbish. A great hair dryer does not need to be a million watts to dry your hair quickly and effectively. Just like the new 50 megapixel cameras – do you want to put a billboard on the moon readable from Earth? No? Then a 14MP camera will suit you just fine.
The power cord for this is just 1.7m which is just over half the length of most comparable brands. It’s really important to have a long length cable for safety reasons and convenience – who wants to move the mirror all them time? This is really odd thing to have left off a pretty decent hair dryer – especially as long cords are crucial in salons.

With ionic technology, this dryer will reduce frizz and strays while you’re drying your hair and the dryer certainly does give smooth and soft hair, especially after using the concentrator nozzle.
At the end of the day, if this is your price range, this is a fantastic hair dryer and will give you a great look every time. If you happen to have one of those gadgets that plugs into the wall and tells you how much electricity something is using…well, you might not want to let the bill-payer know. 2500W is just excessive.
