The only real downside of this hair dryer is that it doesn’t have the range and technology to offer a truly low heat and low power setting – which would make it universal. As a result, the heat might take its toll on any hair, but especially delicate/dyed/fine hair and the power can make it a challenge to style hair properly. A few more settings and this really would be a phenomenal product for the price.
As it is though, it’s not bad. It looks great, has a good length cable and will give you dry hair fast without emptying your bank account. If you’re not looking for finesse in your hair dryer and just want dry hair, this is good.

This TRESemmé budget hair dryer is aesthetically very nice indeed. It’s sleek and matte with just the right amount of modernity and nothing flashy or over the top. Like most TRESemmé products, it looks much more expensive then it actually is and it’s a real contender for the top budget hair dryer place.
This hair dryer is very powerful and gets very hot, which can be a problem for those with sensitive or very fine hair. I would say it was better suited to long and thick hair with its two temperature and two speed settings. It also features the standard cold shot.

It’s also surprisingly lightweight despite the 2200W AC motor, which usually weighs dryers down. Many people specifically look for a lightweight hair dryer and this is a great choice for those with a weight priority.
The lead is an okay length, not too short but not that long either. The rear filter is removable and you must remember to clean it regularly (when the dryer is cool and unplugged) as it will aid the lifespan of the dryer immensely. So many dryer’s overheat due to dust build up in a surprisingly short amount of time.
While this TRESemmé hair dryer doesn’t come with a diffuser, the price is so fantastic for such a good product that it shouldn’t be too much inconvenience to buy one separately if you need one. As a budget hair dryer that does its job well, this TRESemmé5542DU comes highly recommended.
