Summary
This hair dryer does the job and it does it well. Could you buy one for a little cheaper? Yes, probably but this one does have the benefit of being ultralight with a great design. Everything seems to be well thought out and the buttons are small but easy to use. There’s nothing clunky or irritating about this Karmin hair dryer and its ionic technology puts it on a level playing field with some of the more famous brands. Overall I like the design and I like the product – for this price I think it’s pretty reasonable.

In-Depth Review
A small Canadian company, Karmin arrived on the market not too long ago with a tiny selection of products and nothing much has changed. For a small and fairly new company that’s no bad sign and Karmin’s products are usually of good quality and excellent aesthetic design. Hailing from Canada, Karmin sells in many countries and its products are dual voltage.
The Karmin Ultralight Ionic Hair Dryer comes with:
- 1x Ionic hair dryer
- 1x Diffuser
- 1x Concentrator nozzle
- 1x Instruction Manual
- Plus a warranty/registration card
The Karmin Professional Ultralight Ionic hair dryer comes in a luxurious white box with Karmin’s silver design. The hair dryer, diffuser and concentrator are nicely fitted into the black fuzzy interior and the hair dryer is most certainly ‘ultralight’. There’s nothing worse than a heavy hair dryer that kills your wrist after a minute but this one is impressively lightweight.
Apart from the Cool Shot, the rest of the buttons are located on the back of the easy grip handle. With two buttons, each with three settings, you can go from off to low to high power and cool to warm to hot temperature. While your hand will be over the buttons while in use, they are very sturdy and won’t be pressed accidentally.

This hair dryer also has a switch on the side to change between positive and negative ions. Ionic technology reacts with what’s on your hair, not the hair itself. Flicking the switch to say, negative ions, helps breaks down water molecules which then evaporate more easily. The ionic technology here makes for fast drying (so less heat damage) and leaves you with smooth and silky hair. Since most good hair dryers offer this now it’s really a no brainer – Ionic technology is good.
At 1800 watts, this hair dryer won’t make itself obvious on your electricity bill while remaining a perfect power with which to dry hair. Some brands stick in 2500 watt motors or more – unnecessary and heavy. This 1800 watt motor should last a very long time, especially with its self-cleaning filter.

To store your hair dryer is easy with the hanging loop at the base of the handle. This allows you to avoid the temptation of wrapping the cord around the handle (something you should never do) and keeps it off the floor. The 3 metre cord is a good length and doesn’t feel like it’ll break in a hurry.
Ceramic elements allow the Karmin Ultralight hair dryer to produce even, moist heat throughout the drying process which helps to keep your hair healthy and reduces the time you need to dry it. The diffuser that comes with this dryer allows for easy volume and is great for anyone with thick or curly hair. The tourmaline concentrator nozzle allows for intense and precise styling that leaves hair flawless and smooth and these two attachments are really the only ones you need.
