Pros
- Very effective
- Neat storage pouch
- Good price
Cons
- Corded which could be annoying
- Not waterproof
Summary
At such a great price, you really can’t go wrong with this one. It’s effective, it’s pretty painless and it’s easy to clean. It could be improved if it were cordless and rechargeable and also if it was waterproof but you can do without those things. If you don’t want to spend loads but want to try out epilating then I’d highly recommend this Philips Satinelle.

In-Depth Review
Philips is a major Dutch consumer products company that has been around since 1891. It was founded in the Netherlands by Gerard Philips and as run as a successful family business with his father and, later, brother. They shifted operations to the USA during the war and saved the lives of over a hundred Jews in the Netherlands by claiming they were integral to the company’s operations.
A household name and global brand, Philips has always inspired trust in its consumers and can usually be relied upon to create excellent products.
The Philips Satinelle Corded Epilator comes with:
1 x HP6422 Epilator
1 x Opti-start cap with massage
1 x Power cord
1 x Cleaning brush
1 x Pouch
1 x User Manual
The Philips Satinelle epilator has a more feminine design than many others but it’s still very understated and adds, rather than detracts, from the product. It comes in a storage pouch which is a nice touch and helps to keep it clean when not in use.

It removes the majority of hairs quickly and doesn’t take much going over to get everything. The Opti-start cap makes the process easier and seems to be partly responsible for the comfort as it’s better with it on than off.
Although you can’t get this epilator wet, the actual tweezer head section is removable and washable so, along with the cleaning brush, it’s really easy to clean. It’s corded which is the only real downfall in my eyes because the cord can get in the way. It means that you never need to remember to charge it but still, if it was cordless I’d be happier.
It has two speed settings so even you have more sensitive skin or find it a bit painful, you can just switch to the ‘gentle’ setting and take it easier. If you’re in a rush though, then you can speed things up.
For the price, this is a really good product and I don’t have any real complaints. If you’re new to epilating then the massage roller should help you get used to the slight pain and it’s a clean, no faff epilator from a good brand.
