Summary
Yes this is getting on close to a hundred quid but sometimes it truly is worth investing in something really good quality. If you already know that you’re a fan of epilating and are looking to replace an old one or upgrade, then you should really consider this one. It makes exfoliating easy and fast and it comes with a whole range of attachments. Because you can trim, shave, exfoliate and epilate with just one device, it means way less clutter in the bathroom and only one item to carry with you on holiday.
Braun have so many epilators that are all versions of each other but this one really feels as though it’s a culmination of all the best bits. For a beginner then you’d have to be pretty sure you’re going to like epilating to shell out this much but still, it’s not necessarily a bad place to start. Because it’s designed to totally minimise discomfort, as a beginner you may easily find yourself being much more successful with epilating that if you bought a much cheaper, more painful device.
Overall, if you want to epilate, this is one of the best tools you can get. Epilation isn’t an industry where you can just buy the cheap version. It’s not the funnest activity out there but this epilator definitely makes it easy.

In-Depth Review
Since 1921, Braun has been going from strength to strength in the consumer appliance and personal care industry. It’s been owned by two of the world’s largest consumer products companies and is currently owned by Procter & Gamble. Founded in Frankfurt, Germany, by Max Braun, it’s a household name and a sign of high quality and second-to-none engineering.
Along with epilators, Braun creates a huge range of products from toothbrushes and grooming items to blenders and clocks.
The Braun Silk-Epil 7 with Sonic Exfoliation Brush comes with:
- 1x Epilator
- 1x Shaver head
- 1x Trimmer cap
- 1x Facial cap
- 1x Sensitive cap
- 1x Sonic Exfoliation brush
- 1x Storage pouch
- 1x Charger
For an epilator to be this expensive, it’s got to be a hell of a lot more than just a standard epilator. The amount of extras that come with this one certainly makes it look like Braun aren’t cheating you. Firstly, it’s rechargeable and Braun’s version of ‘rechargeable’ is super fast. It only takes an hour to charge from empty and it then runs for 40 minutes, enough time for you to pretty much epilate you’re entire body.
The main difference between this Epil 7 and the ‘Braun Silk-A epil 7 7681 Wet and Dry Cordless Epilator with 5 Attachments’ is the Sonic Exfoliation brush which is actually my favourite thing. Exfoliation is so important with hair removal and just for maintaining healthy skin and this brush does a really fast and remarkable job of it. It keeps skin in great condition and minimises the risks of ingrown hairs when you epilate which is a huge upside. Sure you could just exfoliate manually but it’s so much faster and feels so much more satisfying this way.
With the shaver and trimmer heads, again this epilator is a sort of all-rounder and the sensitive cap is perfect for underarms and bikini line. As epilating goes, this one isn’t really painful and the massaging roller feature definitely makes the whole process easier and more comfortable.
As with other Braun epilators, this one has a SmartLight to show up the hairs and a pivoting head to glide around any contours. There’s not really much else that Braun could’ve added to this, it’s just completely comprehensive as it should be, for the price!

It’s cordless design makes it totally waterproof which I prefer to the Philip’s cordless designs that can’t be used in the bath or shower. If you are epilating sensitive areas then doing it in the shower is much more comfortable and the exfoliation brush works well in the shower as well. The waterproof feature is really important in an epilator I think, as it adds so much more flexibility and you don’t need to worry about it accidentally getting wet and breaking etc.
The design is typically Braun, unobtrusive and pleasant. The storage bag is useful although pretty run of the mill when it comes to quality. Then again, some hair straighteners come with bags that look like you could use them with a ball gown and it’s just over the top.
