Nicky Clarke Diamond Shine Pro Salon Dryer Review

November 25, 2015 By Cute Hair Day

Pros

  • Looks pretty snazzy
  • Works well and dries fast
  • 3 metre cord

Cons

  • Quite heavy, especially if you have longer hair and so use it for more time
  • Feel like an idiot using something with ‘crushed diamonds’ in it

Summary

The crushed diamond aspect of this only serves to turn me off. It seems massively unnecessary and while hair is soft and smooth after use, it is with plenty of other high quality dryers that don’t use precious gems for advertising. The dryer is powerful and actually works very well with a good length cord and a hanging loop. It has a 2000W motor with is enough for long, thick hair and feels and looks like it has a good construction quality. I like it a lot, I just wish they didn’t feel the need to put crushed diamonds in the grille.

In-Depth Review

Nicky Clarke has gone from celebrity stylist to receiving an OBE for 30 years of service to the hair styling industry. His range of salons are luxurious and his products are professional quality but aimed at those who don’t want to pay big bucks for personal care tools. He has a loyal customer base and his products are usually pretty good.

The Nicky Clarke Diamond Shine Pro Salon Dryer comes with:

  • 1x Pro Salon hair dryer

If you want to be taken seriously by your friends and family, it’s usually best not to go for products that say things like, ‘real crushed diamonds’ when referring to a hair dryer. No one believes that diamonds make your hair smoother – why bother feeling the need to jazz up an already reasonably good item? Apparently, Nicky Clarke ‘uses real diamonds infused with frizz fighting technology’ – some lab they’ve got going on over there is all I can say.

So let’s focus on what use-based facts there are. This hair dryer has three temperature and two speed settings which are both very good and should work with any hair type. It has a standard 3 metre cable which is what its peer, the Nicky Clarke Mayfair Vitesse Dryer, lacks.

The 2000W motor is powerful without being overkill and has the capability to dry thick hair fast even though the dryer itself is quite heavy. It only comes with one nozzle, a concentrator nozzle and I think for this price it could come with more to be worthwhile. Maybe the diamonds pushed the price up…

This dryer also uses ceramic and ionic technology which produce even and fast heat as well as wiping out frizz and static while you use the product. Hair is smooth and silky afterwards and it doesn’t take long to dry. This isn’t an over-priced product but I certainly don’t think the diamond aspect is anything based in science – but who knows.
