Braun Satin Hair 7 HD730 Review

November 25, 2015 By Cute Hair Day

Pros

  • Cool looking design
  • Comes with a good diffuser and a standard concentrator nozzle
  • Great price

Cons

  • Heavy
  • Cable is too short

Summary

If you’re looking for a hair dryer in this price range and don’t have very thick and long hair then this is a good option. It has a good range of settings including the cold shot button to seal in style and has a diffuser and concentrator nozzle. While the ‘Satin’ technology aspect of this dryer is a bit pointless – you can turn down the heat and keep the power with the regular settings – hair does feel smooth and fairly frizz free after use.

Hair won’t dry as quickly as with dryers like the GHD Air dryer and this is a heavy model – but it will get there in the end. The main problem with this dryer is the cable length at a really annoying 1.9m. If you’re tall or have a mirror located a metre or two from the socket, don’t buy it.

In-Depth Review

A German company founded in 1921, Braun started life as a small engineering shop in Frankfurt making radio set components. After progressing to radio sets and dominating the German market, Braun moved on to record players and, after the war, more audio products. From the 1950s Braun sold electric shavers, was acquired in 1967 by Gillette and has grown in leaps and bounds. Today it is one of the most respected personal appliance producers and creates excellent products at affordable prices.

The Braun Satin Hair 7 HD730 Iontec Dryer comes with:

  • Braun hair dryer
  • Diffuser
  • Concentrator nozzle

This Braun hair dryer is the perfect mix of modern design and simplicity. It looks a little futuristic and judging by the amount of fancy technology in it – it is a little futuristic. Braun advertise this as a healthy hair dryer; one that moisturises as it dries using its IONTEC technology…

IONTEC technology emits from ions from the dryer onto your hair – which then apparently coat your hair and attract moisture particles to condition and moisturise your hair all while drying it. Does it work? Hard to say but hair is softer after use and frizz is almost non-existent.

This hair dryer features three heat and two airflow settings – all of which are enough for the needs of almost any hair type. The Satin Protect System reduces temperature but sustains airflow, allowing your hair to get the blast it needs at a less damaging temperature. The key to healthy hair while using a hair dryer really is that – good airflow, lower temperature.

Long hair that’s very thick may struggle with this dryer as despite its 2200W motor, it just doesn’t have the oomph of similar products like the GHD Air dryer. For most hair types though this should be acceptable and the diffuser attachment works very well for curly and wavy hair.

The cable length on this dryer is a disappointing 1.9m, which is really short. If you’re tall then the socket basically has to be right next to the mirror or there’s simply no hope unless you want to sit on the floor. It’s such a simple thing to make a 3m cable and it’s always a hit with customers – why make it short?

The weight of the dryer is not light by any stretch of the imagination and this is also a negative point. If you have long hair then it will take a while to dry it and the weight is going to become a problem. Who wants to get tired out just from drying their hair? On the plus side, it’s exercise.
