In-Depth Review
Despite having only been in the personal appliance industry for a small chunk of their two hundred year history, Remington have elbowed their way to the top of the budget sector and have a great reputation. Their products are never far behind the leaders in hair care like GHD and they pride themselves on remaining affordable.
The Remington AC9096 Silk Dryer comes with:
- 1x Remington hair dryer
- 1x Diffuser
- 2x Concentrator nozzles
Finally a Remington with a proper length cable! At 3 metres, this hair dryer has a range more adapted to people of all heights and mirrors not adjacent to sockets. Hurrah! And it comes in a rather fetching deep magenta, which manages to look stylish without being overly showy. A difficult style to achieve.
This hair dryer has a great range of settings with three temperatures and two speeds. The 2400W motor makes the dryer heavier than some of its counterparts and isn’t exactly necessary but some people are convinced it makes all the difference.

With two concentrator nozzles, one at 11cm and one at 7cm, you have a choice of fast precise drying or easy and precise styling. This means you have the tools to produce the perfect blow-dry at home. The diffuser is the best friend of curly haired users and will give bounce and life to wavy hair as well. The cool shot button helps to seal in that style at the end.
The rear grille (where the air gets sucked in) is removable which is a very useful capability as dust build-up will not only shorten the life of your hair dryer but could also be a fire hazard. Once in a while, remove the back grille and give it a brush to remove the dust. When doing this, also make sure the dryer is unplugged from the wall and has cooled down completely.

The hottest setting on this is very hot, probably too hot for most people’s hair. Airflow is what really dries hair and heat will definitely help, but don’t use the hottest setting at the expense of your hair’s health. This is a high-powered machine and it works well – the ionic capabilities keeps flyaways…well…away.
