BaByliss 5344U Travel 2000W Hair Dryer Review

November 25, 2015 By Cute Hair Day

Pros

  • Powerful
  • Lightweight and small
  • Comes with pouch
  • Very affordable

Cons

  • No cool setting
  • Have been complaints with hair getting sucked in the back as it lacks a proper mesh

Summary

Being a travel hair dryer, this only has the bare minimum of technology and design required to dry your hair and give a reasonable style. It’s no GHD, Diva or mid-range Remington. But, if you’re looking for something compact, lightweight and that will dry your hair quite effectively I think this is a good choice for a travel accessory. It’s definitely not suitable for day-to-day use at home but that’s not what it’s designed for. At this price, I’d highly recommend this.

In-Depth Review

Originally a Parisian brand, BaByliss was started in the 60s by a French stylist who sold curling irons in Montmartre. Since then it has expanded hugely under the ownership of multination giant Conair and is now a household name in personal appliance. From budget to mid-range, BaByliss are great for those looking to buy but not invest in a hair product.

The BaByliss 5344U Travel 2000W Travel Hair Dryer comes with:

  • 1x Folding hair dryer
  • 1x Travel case
  • 1x Concentrator nozzle

This little hairdryer is much smaller than the majority on the market these days and the folding capability is awesome. If you’re really keen to take a hair dryer away with you then this one should be just fine (unless you’re backpacking in which case…seriously?). This is great for travel and comes with dual voltage so you can change it between 240v and 120v to suit the country (obviously you will still need an adaptor if you’re going to places that use a different socket type).

The aesthetics are fairly plain and neat and BaByliss have somehow managed to fit a 2000W motor in here. As a result you don’t have the frustration of have a travel hair dryer that’s like being breathed on by a pensioner like the old ones. This one will actually dry your hair fast.

With two temperature settings and two speed settings plus a concentrator nozzle, you should be able to do all the styling you would normally do at home and keep hair looking presentable with ease.

The rear filter isn’t removable on this model but should nevertheless be cleaned with a soft brush every once in a while to stop dust clogging up the motor inside. Make sure it’s turned off, unplugged and cool when you do this.

For something so small, this hair dryer is sturdy and feels like it has a design quality that will see you through many holidays and business trips. It’s lightweight but doesn’t feel cheap and at this price it’s fantastic.
